The Dark Knight A+
Honestly, it lived up to the hype and then exceeded it. For me this is the greatest piece of film making i have ever scene. An absolute masterpiece. I could rant for pages and pages about how good the score alone was, much less Heath Ledger's performance, which was the paragon of acting itself. His Joker was a better villain than Anton Chigur, Hannibal Lecter, or Darth Vader. All of the leads and supporting actors were nothing short of exceptional. The story is so mind-bogglingly good that I was able to see it at both Midnight and 3 AM of the same night, and I could see it an unlimited number of times more and love it just as much. I might have to move every A+ movie down to an A solely because they can not match up to this. The action was incredibly well orchestrated and the music fittingly spectacular. There are flaws, but they are miniscule and unimportant, especially next to how incredible the rest was.
Slumdog Millionaire A
Role Models A
Frost/Nixon A
Iron Man A
One of the most fun and best summer action movies ever made. I knew from the first preview that this movie would kick ass and it exceeded my expectations. It even got Tom to admit it was better than Indiana Jones 4.
Kung Fu Panda A
Now, I'm a hardcore Pixar fan and I usually don't like Dreamworks Animation very much, but this was fabulous. Jack Black made the whole movie hilarious, the animation was incredible, and the story and fighting choreography were amazing.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall A
Thank God for this movie. I was worried that the Judd Apatow crew was losing it a little, especially after the debacle that was drillbit taylor. This was proof that they still most definitely have it. No, it was not as good as Superbad, but no other comedy is. Yes some of the jokes were a little bit stupid (the webcam gag) but on a whole a hilarious movie i will be able to watch several times and still laugh my ass off. I decided to upgrade this movie because the more I remember it the more I love it. Some of the jokes are timeless, especially the Aldous Snow Character (who is getting his own movie) and YOU SHALL NOT PASS!.
Another amazing performance by Robert Downey Jr., but this time in a different way. They way he disappears into roles is nothing short of magnificent. Some people might find the humor offensive (especially Simple Jack) but they need to lighten up. The casting was great and the parody of Hollywood perfect. Many thought that Tom Cruise was the best part of the movie, but I actually did not find either him or Matthew McConaugey very funny. The rest of the actors, however, were great. Ben Stiler's portrayal of the out of work action hero was very good and all of the scenes in the woods were very amusing. The story was also very original and the characters spot on. Overall, this movie is very enjoyable if you're looking for a fresh laugh rather than tired jokes.
Get Smart A-
Another hilarious movie. I was worried that since the new Office episodes had been a little dumb and after Evan Almighty, that Steve Carrell might be going to be family oriented and not be the same funny character he used to be. Once again, I was proven wrong. I went in thinking that it was going to be a B movie because it was directed towards a younger audience, but this proved PG 13 can still be very, very funny. I know it's wrong, but I laughed for 5 min straight at the retarded deaf stable boy "OK". Also, the action was surprisingly well done.
Wanted A-
I had very high expectations for this film and for the most part, it met them. It was a adrenaline- fueled action movie that had me driving like an idiot and playing with guns for the next 6 hours, but it had some slight flaws as well. The ending was not as good as it could have been, but the action and training scenes were very good. The twist was also a little trite, but, hey, I came to be entertained and I definitely was entertained well.

Valkyrie B
Wall-E B
I am a huge fan of Pixar movies and have never seen one i didn't like, and after Wall-E this remains true. Because I was riding that "Ratatouille high," i expected this to be another masterpiece. It was very good; the traditional humor carried it and the original concept made it fun to watch along with the breath-taking animation. The plot and story, however, were a little weak and quite predictable. I basically knew what was going to happen from 15 min into the film. But, I can not say that it ruined the movie because on a whole, Pixar has still definitely got it and remains infallible in my eyes. (Cars came close, but held at a B). It was no Finding Nemo or Ratatouille, but not every movie a studio makes will be, even Pixar.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull B
One thing I really like about this movie was the twist of the Crystal Skull being an alien skull rather than another jewel-encrusted biblical artifact. I'm glad they had an original concept for the rebirth of the franchise. The action scenes were also well directed and the movie was generally fun, but it had some definite flaws. For one, I know that there are going to be some unrealistic elements to it, but this movie crossed the line a bit. Some of the things that happened were a bit too hard to conceive (driving the truck off the cliff onto a tree and over 3 waterfalls :( not very good choice). Also I didn't think that Cate Blanchett's Bob Dylan impersonation was as good as it could have been. Just kidding. The main villain was simply not very scary or intimidating. These two things could have been greatly improved on but it does not take enough away from the movie to deserve a negative review.
Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay B
This was very, very funny. I don't usually like these types of low-brow comedies, but neither do critics, and for the most part they did as did I. I think that if there wasn't such a stigma against teen-based rated R comedies about "stoners" more critics would have admitted to liking it. Sure the plot was dumb, but who cares you were laughing most of the time anyways?
Sex and the City B
Yes, I saw it. Yes, I watch the show. I don't care how feminine it is I think it's funny and entertaining. I saw it with my girlfriend if that ameliorates the situation at all. Anyways, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and it was one of the best romantic comedies i have ever seen. That said the plot was extremely predictable and the story was not perfect. But, the acting was good and I was very happy with the result overall. For me, romantic comedies rarely break the C's but this was definitely good enough to do it. See it with a date, it's worth it.

The Incredible Hulk B-
I was excited to see another take on the comic book with great cinematic potential after Ang Lee's absolutely dreadful Hulk. I understand that for a character like Hulk it's hard to write a story, but this movie did a decent enough job. It had some very good action scenes, and the ending fight with Abomination was fantastic. The thing that plagued this movie a little was, well, some parts were straight up boring. Also, I'm sorry but Edward Norton, while a fantastic actor, is kind of a wussy looking dude. Bruce Banner is too, though, so i guess it works, but I didn't see him as a perfect fit for the role (still a good one). Overall though, it was cool and still worth seeing.
You Don't Mess with the Zohan C+
Ok, when I saw the first preview for this I though Adam Sandler had gone insane. It looked dreadfully stupid; Chris and I mocked it for months. After seeing it, however, I was able to accept it for what it was: a movie that basically aimed to be stupid for laughs. It was decent. I laughed a lot, especially in the beginning and it had some funny parts. The end, however, was too boring. And overall, while I know it is supposed to be stupid, It was a little to stupid for my taste. But if you just want to forget your troubles and laugh a little, it does a decent enough job.
Revolutionary Road C-
The Day the Earth Stood Still C-
Hancock D+
Going into this movie I was thinking that the original concept and Will Smith would make it a decent enough movie. Coming out, i thought "Wow what a stupid twist and dreadful villain choice." The explanation of his powers was capital S stupid, as was his one weakness. Not to mention the pitiful villain! How does this guy go from petty bank robber to a Lex Luthor-esque mastermind? And how does he know Hancock is weak or that he can possibly hurt him? I mean the beginning was alright enough to stop me from making this movie a worse grade, but DO NOT waste money on this movie. Sorry Will Smith, you should have known better.
The Spirit D
Max Payne D
The Happening D
Now, I have a serious bias against horror movies. You know why? BECAUSE THEY ALL ARE TERRIBLE! There's no two ways about it, all horror movies are awful. With rare exception. One of those exceptions is The Sixth Sense. While I wasn't so much scared as I was thrilled, I thought it was a great movie, and it made me more open to seeing horror movies. For this reason I went into The Happening with an open mind, thinking that the brother of well known singer Donny Wahlberg, Mark, could make this movie good. Wow, was I wrong. He was on LSD or something the whole time and he conveyed fear about as well as a turtle can. Zooey Deschanel was apparently on drugs the entire movie as well, because she seemed so spaced out. SPOILER ALERT, wait who will see this movie anyways? The thing everyone is scared of: KILLER PLANTS OOOH!!! How... dull... and it couldn't be further from scary. DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE. The only thing scary about it is the fact that it made 30 mil opening weekend.
The Love Guru D-
I love Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. I love Mike Myers on Saturday Night Live. I love Wayne's world. Yet, I still knew how pathetic this movie would be before I saw it. The jokes are at a maturity level below my 6 year old sister's. Not only are they awful, but they are recycled and unoriginal. The least you could do is make new jokes that are terrible. But no, you actually see a "whats the capital of Thailand? BANGKOK!" in this movie. I thought after Good Luck Chuck I could never see a movie so terrible again, but this came very close. Mike myers, Jessica Alba, and everyone else I HATE YOU FOR CREATING THIS AWFUL MOVIE AND WASTING MY LIFE. I knew what I was getting into, yet I still went in, hoping for another surprise like Zohan. No way, Zohan looks like Superbad next to this.
